The document acknowledges the potential beneficial uses of facial recognition technology (FRT), while warning against the risks of invasive surveillance, human rights violations and discrimination. The document describes in detail the attributes and applications of FRT in the public and private sectors, as well as the associated risks to privacy and data protection. In this regard, the document also contains recommendations for policy makers, controllers and processors to mitigate these risks.
